Ariel Dawi’s colorful compositions can be read as visual memories. They refer to the artist’s inner life, bringing the internal to the surface. With distance of time and space, what he has seen and experienced are brought to the canvas through brush and acrylic. Dawi utilizes a visual language that oscillates between abstraction and figuration. His paintings show mainly figures in interior and exterior settings or landscapes, most of which cannot be precisely located geographically, and exude something dreamy and mysterious. The sensual effect of Dawi’s works derives from their strong colourfulness. The artist explores the diversity of color and the tonal gradations thereof, thus providing an experience for the viewer’s eye.|
Ariel Dawi was born in 1958 in Buenos Aires.
